Years 1 and 2 are taught mostly by their form teacher. However, to encourage their independence Science, Art and Geography are taught by specialist teachers. French is introduced in Year 1 and Mandarin starts in Year 2.
All pupils in Years 1 and 2 take recorder lessons and are able to take small graded tests throughout the year. In Year 2, pupils have two terms of violin or viola lessons with the option to continue if they so wish.
Lower School pupils have a music concert in the Spring Term and all Lower School and Early Years pupils perform the Christmas Nativity Play.
Pupils undertake annual PIPS assessment throughout the school, which tracks their performance during their time at Greenfield.
