Music plays an important part in the life at Greenfield with the majority of children playing at least one musical instrument. Standards are high and over the past 16 years, 33 Music Scholarships to senior schools have been awarded, providing an endorsement of the quality of teaching and learning.
Curriculum Music
Children in all year groups receive an hour class music lesson every week from the Director of Music. Children in Year 1 and 2 receive an additional half hour of recorder tuition every week and Year 2 are offered two terms of string tuition as part of the curriculum.
Private Music Tuition
A team of highly qualified instrumental and vocal teachers provide in-school private music tuition to the children. The disciplines currently available are; singing, piano, keyboard, violin, viola, cello, double bass, classical guitar, flute, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, drums and private music technology lessons.
Extra Curricular Music
At Greenfield there is an atmosphere of ‘inclusion’ and a firm belief in ‘music for all’. Every child is provided with the opportunity to take part in the following extracurricular activities;
