Football Festival Finale

As the Football season draws to a close, Greenfield hosted the final in a trio of Festivals for U7s, U9s and U11s.

This Thursday saw the final instalment of Greenfield's Football Festivals this year. With the U7s tournament kicking things off in September and the U11s proving very successful last week, the final competition welcomed teams of U9s from various local schools.

Teams from Hoe Bridge Preparatory School, St Lawrence C of E Primary School, Pirbright Village Primary School, Goldsworth Primary School, The International School of London - Surrey, St Dunstan's Catholic Primary School, Brookwood Primary School, Bisley C of E Primary School, Sythwood Primary School, The Hermitage School,  Ripley Court Preparatory School and West Byfleet Junior School took part; a total of 128 children across 16 teams competing.

The weather stayed dry but there was a bitter chill in the air and the boys and girls were no doubt pleased to be running around to stay warm. We can't say the same for the spectators but thankfully there were plenty of warming refreshments on offer!

After a competitive first round, the teams were sorted into four groups to compete for the medals. Another round of games (and no doubt another round of tea for the mums and dads!) and it was time to announce the winners. The fourth group was won by St Lawrence Primary School, the bronze medals went to Pirbright Primary School and the silver medals were awarded to West Byfleet Junior School.  The recipients of the gold medals, and overall winners of the competition, were the players from Brookwood Primary School, who stormed to victory after three wins against Goldworth Primary School, St Dunstan's Catholic Primary School and Hoe Bridge Preparatory School.  Well done, Brookwood!

Across the three Festivals Greenfield School has hosted this season, more than 60 teams from 21 local schools have taken part. The atmosphere at each event has been one of fun, friendly competition and community spirit. Thank you to all the schools, teachers, pupils and parents who have taken part or supported the events in some way.

We look forward to next year!
