Upper School

In the Upper School (Years 3 to 6), children have Mathematics, Literacy, PHSCE and History with their class teacher. The Heads of English and Mathematics teach alongside the class teachers for many of the lessons and oversee the curriculum. The children are taught in small teaching groups to ensure that they all make excellent progress regardless of their ability. The remaining lessons, Music, RE, Art and Design Technology, French, Geography, Mandarin and Science are taught by specialist teachers enabling a smooth transition to having subject teachers in senior school. ICT is integrated into all lessons and the children regularly use our fully equipped ICT suites.

The children have a varied and balanced curriculum and are encouraged to take part in a range of after-school clubs, Senior Choir and to take part in our many school performances.

Each term the children go on a day trip which is connected to a current topic. The overnight trips begin in Year 3 with one night away at a local adventure centre and progress to a Year 6, four day trip to Northern France. The cost of these trips, excluding the French trip, is included in the fees.

Regular assessment continues throughout Upper School and individual performance targets are set for Literacy and Mathematics.
