Below you will find the answers to some of our Frequently Asked Questions about Little School which may help prospective parents gain a better understanding of the Little School.
Funding and Fees
What is included in the fees?
The morning session includes the cost of breakfast and lunch and the afternoon session includes the cost of tea, both provided by our onsite caterers. Snacks, educational visits and trips, as well as all resources e.g. art and craft supplies, stationery, and equipment are also included.
Do you accept government funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds?
We do not accept the FEET funding for 2-year-olds. We do accept the 15 hours of government funding for 3 and 4-year-olds but our minimum attendance is greater than 15 hours. We have a limited number of 30 hours places available to those attending full-time (07:30-18:00 Monday to Friday).
Contact the Admissions Office for more information on funded places.
How and when will I be invoiced?
Fees for children on 50-week places will be invoiced monthly. Fees for those attending term-time only will be invoiced termly. Invoices will be sent via email.
Do you accept childcare vouchers?
Yes.
Do you offer sibling discount?
The School offers a 10% reduction in the fees of the third child so long as the two elder siblings are also in attendance at Greenfield School.
Do you charge fees if my child is ill or on holiday?
Fees are due if your child is ill or on holiday. Little School is closed on Bank Holidays but fees are charged for these days. Little School will also be closed for several additional working days throughout the year and fees will not be charged for these scheduled closure dates. Closure dates will be set out on the website in advance and any changes to these dates will be communicated to parents in advance.
Do I have to pay a full day if I want to pick my child up early?
Fees are charged in sessional blocks (ie. 07:30-13:00 and 13:00-18:00). Therefore, if your child is booked in for a full day but you decide to collect early, you are still charged for the full session.
Will the fees change as my child gets older?
The fees will not change throughout Little School - if you are continuing with a 50-week place then the annual fees will remain the same, less any funding. If you are changing to a term time place in Robins then the fee will adjust to reflect the term time educational provision only. Contact our Admissions Office or the Finance Office if you require any further details.
Once your child enters Reception, our main school fees will apply which can be viewed here: Fees
Nursery Life
Do you have minimum session requirements?
Yes. Each nursery room has varying minimum sessions requirements, increasing as your child moves up through the rooms. The Fledglings room requires children to attend a minimum of six sessions per week, including at least one session on a Monday or Friday. The Owls room requires children to attend a minimum of eight sessions per week. The Robins classrooms require children to attend a minimum of eight sessions per week, including all five morning sessions. More information on sessions can be found
here.
Can I book ad-hoc sessions?
Ad-hoc sessions can be requested with a minimum of one week’s notice and are granted with discretion, depending on whether we can accommodate your child. Please note that ad-hoc sessions are charged at a higher rate. Children are not permitted to swap sessions from one day to another. If you wish for your child to attend an additional session, this will be booked and charged as an ad-hoc.
what are the nursery opening dates?
The Little School nursery dates can be found
here.
What are your room ratios?
In Fledglings (0-24 months), the ratio is 1 adult to 3 children. In Owls (2-3 years), the ratio is 1 adult to 4 children. In Robins (3-4 years), the ratio is 1 adult to 8 children. At least half of all adults possess a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification.
How do you record my child’s progress?
Little School use an online learning journal called Tapestry to records the learning and development of the children. By logging on with a secure username and password, you can view your child’s profile which will include observations, photographs and even video clips of their time at Little School. We encourage you to “like” or add comments to the observations that you see, and also add your own observations with photos and videos of your child achieving things at home.

Book Your Visit
How do I register?
Please contact our admissions team to receive the link to our online registration form. There is a £100 non-refundable registration fee due, regardless of whether there is a place available at the time of registration. If registering over 6 months in advance of entry for Little School, all children are placed on a waiting list. Places are allocated around 6 months ahead of entry. A further deposit of £250 is due at the point of securing a place. Please see our Registration and Admissions
Policy for more information.
Is there a waiting list?
Places in our Little School fill up fast and so it is very likely that there will be a waiting list at any given point. As outlined above, places are allocated 6 months ahead of entry and you will be informed if there is a place available for your child.
Will my child have settling sessions?
We offer settling sessions to all children joining Little School. For our youngest children, these usually take the form of two 1 hour sessions with a parent being present for the first session and leaving the child in our care for the second session. More settling sessions can be added where necessary, and the form of the sessions changes slightly for older children. Please find our policy on settling
here.
