The event “kicked off” at 8am with BBC Sports Presenter, Mike Bushell, sending his well wishes in the form of a video message to spur the children on. First to play were Elliott and Oli’s “Allstars” teams, made up of the boys and chosen staff members who battled it out to give their team a starting lead. Whilst the football began, a group of volunteers from Year 6 arrived early to sell red noses to pupils as they came into school.

Throughout the day, every pupil took part in the continuous football tournament and had a great time - some children managed to play with their red noses staying on!

After a school day full of loud cheers and puffed-out pupils, around 60 parents, siblings, alumni, staff and the wider Greenfield community took over to continue the football fun. This was fuelled by hundreds of red nose themed cakes baked by a Year 4 pupil, which went down a storm with players and spectators alike. Always keen to support the local community, Woking FC even put in a team including manager Alan Dowson, Martin Tyler, Ian Dier, Adrian Withers, Daniel O’Sullivan, Jodie Selley and Nic Di Felice.

After a tiring and fun 12 hours of continuous football, at 8pm, the evening ended with pizzas and an auction containing some wonderful prizes donated by parents and local businesses.

Over the course of the day, the children raised a staggering £3,042.25 and were so pleased to be able to send this money to Comic Relief and help vulnerable people all over the world.
