The school entered five teams, with the aim of completing as many lengths as possible in the 55 minute slot which was allocated.

18 children from Years 4-6 took part and entered into the competitiveness of the occasion, keeping their eyes on the number of lengths which was displayed at the end of the pool. The girls team of Isabelle Tinsley (6M), Chloe Frost (5L), Anya Lynch (6B), Sanika Das (5J), Vahnee Sathan (6M) and Maaike Baij (6M) managed to complete an impressive 127 lengths, being the winning Greenfield children's team. Not far behind was the mixed team of Saachi Rajani (5J), Owen Batchelor (4M), Lexie Digman (5J), Yasmine Abdelaziz (5J), Abbie Styles (5L) and Charlie Wade (4C) who swam a huge 108 lengths. There was also a great effort from the boys' team of Claudio Contardi (6M), Alex Hardy (6M), Hugo Manzi (6B), Henry Herbertson (6M), Aarnav Mahavir (6B) and Harris Hamer-Hodges (5J) who finished on a respectable 102 lengths. 

The parents and staff battled it out, with the parents managing to pull ahead! Well done to Mrs Beesly, Mrs Houghton, Mrs Gray, Mr Hamer-Hodges, Mrs Pennells and Miss Manzi for the incredible 150 lengths achieved. Staff team of Mr Brown, Mr Upcott, Miss Baker, Mr Gomez, Mrs Reeve and Mrs Rust weren't far behind with their 132 lengths.

All of the participants received a medal and huge well done from the friendly Rotary Club volunteers. Woking Rotary Club organise events throughout the year to fundraise for the local community. This year's Swimathon was raising money for the Mayor's Charities (Your Sanctuary and Women’s Support Centre), Woking and Sam Beare Hospice, Transform Housing & Support, Horsell Village School (Outdoor learner-centre), Samber (Riding For the disabled), Woking Street Angels and Woking Shop Mobility.

What a fun way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon - raising money for local causes, keeping fit and having fun with friends. Perhaps we will be able to fill the whole pool with Greenfield swimmers next year...

*UPDATE 22ND NOVEMBER* - The swimmers raised a huge £1590 for the Woking Rotary Club and charities which they support. Well done children!
