This year at Greenfield, in order to raise a more meaningful amount of money for a good cause, the School has decided to focus its fundraising efforts on one charity. In order to decide on this deserving organisation, our School Council researched and presented four different charitable trusts to the rest of the school and allowed each pupil the opportunity to vote. The quality of the delivery and the passion our School Council members showed, highlights the kindness our children have towards helping others. After the final poll, the winning charity was declared as The Early Births Fund.

The Early Births Fund was set up by a team of doctors, nurses, parents and support staff in 2003 with the specific aim of supporting the babies, families and staff on the Neonatal Care Unit at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. The Care Unit provides the highest level of intensive care for the smallest and sickest new-born babies in Surrey. Nearly 700 babies were cared for last year and we are delighted to be supporting them this year.

On Friday 9th December, the School's first fundraiser of the year took place. It was Pyjama Day and all the pupils and staff were allowed to wear their pyjamas, onesies and dressing gowns to school in exchange for a donation to the charity. The School Council would like to thank the entire Greenfield Community for helping to raise a staggering £413.50 for this wonderful, local charity. A special mention goes to a generous Greenfield family, who kindly offered to match the figure raised. We will be posting a cheque of £827 to the Early Births Fund very soon!

Later this year, the School Council's Ice Cream Friday's will return! All the money raised from this popular initiative will also going toward the Early Births Fund. Well done School Council and thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff who will donate towards this very worthwhile cause throughout the year.
