Clean Sweep at Quiz Club Regional Heats

Three teams of Greenfield pupils took part in the Quiz Club regional heats, held at Tormead Junior School, and came away with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!

On a cold winter’s afternoon 12 Greenfield pupils set off for Tormead Junior School to attend the Quiz Club regional heats. Greenfield School, Tormead and Alton Convent School were set to compete in their teams to determine who would be promoted to the next round of competition.

The teams were made up of four pupils, one each from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Greenfield’s Team 3 had only joined the competition on Friday of the preceding week, due to a space becoming available in the competition. They had not had the same preparation time as the other two teams but were very excited to join in nonetheless.

When the competition began it was clear that Team 3 were not going to let their lack of practice stand in their way. The Greenfield teams jostled for first place, with each of them taking the lead at some point in the competition.

By the end of the contest, Team 1 (Aanchal Y6, Siddy Y5, Sam Y4 and Alex Y3) were in third place with 1770 points, Team 2 (Ryan Y6, Katie Y5, Joseph Y4 and Rory Y3) were in second place with 1915 and Team 3 (James Y6, Emily Y5, Rafael Y4 and Maggie Y3) had taken first place with 1930 points. What a way to shake off the January blues!

Well done to all the children who took part and thank you to Tormead School for hosting the competition.
