On Tuesday 7^th March, the Upper School delighted parents and relatives with instrumental and vocalist performances by a range of children in Years 3 to 6. Beginning with a tribute to the late Leonard Cohen and working through many genres, from musical theatre to jazz and rock and roll, there really was something for everyone to enjoy. The evening ended with two fantastic pieces by the Chamber Choir and School Orchestra respectively, leaving parents and staff full of the joys of spring.

There was no rest for the music department, as the following morning it was time for take two! The whole of Lower School and Pre-Prep gathered on stage to a packed-out hall of parents, grandparents and staff, to show off their musical talents.

Year 2 delighted onlookers with a display of their progress on the violin, viola and cello. The children begin to learn one of these instruments as part of their Year 2 music curriculum and were very keen to share their first pieces with the audience.

Songs with spring themes were performed passionately, interspersed with the narration of “I Knew it was Spring” and recitals on the recorder by Year 1 and 2 pupils. Even our youngest pupils, in Owls and Robins classes, sang songs that encompassed the delights of spring to a doting audience of mums and dads.

What better way to welcome in the warmer weather?
