Sponsored Cycle Ride for Little Roo
Budding fundraisers organise sponsered cycle ride to raise money for local neo-natal charity.
Earlier this month, a group of Greenfield pupils decided to do a sponsored bike ride to raise money for the school’s charity of choice for 2016/2017, The Little Roo Neo Natal Fund. The school has participated in several fundraising events over the course of the year, but these children took it upon themselves to go one step further and organise their own charity event.
On Sunday 2nd July, Year 5 pupils Jasmine E, Jasmine K, Zahara, Kas, Katie, Emily, Elena, Tessa, Tamara and Jessica cycled 45 laps around Woking Park. That’s a total of 15 miles each! The group were joined by Tessa's brother and sister, Mason (Year 2) and Scarlett (Reception), on their bikes and they had side-line support from their classmates Chuka and Chinwe.
It was a hot day and the children reportedly cycled sensibly around the park, were respectful of other park users and were supportive of each other, cheering in the slower cyclists. We were pleased to hear that they all conducted themselves according to the Greenfield Way and were a credit to themselves and the school. Well done boys and girls!
In the weeks that followed the sponsored ride, the group have continued to raise money and now have a total of £729 to donate to the Little Roo Neo Natal Fund. A truly fantastic sum for a very worthy cause. Well done to everyone involved.
