Girls Take Gold at U11 Football Tournament
The Greenfield Girls' U11 Football Team took home the gold today at a tournament hosted by Longacre.
On Wednesday 21st March, eight Year 6 girls attended a football tournament at Longacre School. It turned out to be a lovely afternoon, with the sun shining a no sign of any snow or ice - hooray!
The tournament began with two groups fighting it out for each of the placing games. The Greenfield team got off to a good start, winning their game against Millbourne Lodge 1-0. They followed this up with a brilliant 5-0 win against Longacre Lions and finished off the round with another win, this time 2-0, against Rowan. This secured the girls their spot in the 1st place decider match against Belmont School.
Having achieved such great results so far, the girls were hungry for the win and they went out fighting in the final game of the day. The match ended in a 2-0 win to Greenfield and the girls were named the winners! They received their gold medals during a presentation at the end of the tournament. Well done girls!
Thanks go to Longacre School for hosting and to Mr Cooke and Miss Gamble for taking the girls to the tournament.
