Mr Lord visited the school at the end of their Activities Week, where the whole school suspends normal lessons and the children take part in school trips or activities designed to build upon their soft skills and to embed their learning. Children in Pre-Prep were invited to come to school dressed as something they had learned about during the week. Costumes included kings, queens, princesses, duchesses, as well as dragons, royal house builders and even a castle!

Whilst some of the children were still away on their residential trips, the Year 4 boys and girls had already returned from their two nights away and they were spending their final day of activities week designing their own towns. They had used cardboard, milk bottles, paper and other recyclable materials to create their models, some of which took up quite a bit of space!

The designs included schools, hospitals, fire stations and less essential services such as sweet shops and cinemas to keep residents happy. Other important inclusions for the children were the trees and green spaces, including rivers and ponds to walk around and play in.

One particular design included very futuristic engineering to achieve a rotating roundabout that operated over a circular moat.

The children were delighted to share their ideas with Mr Lord, who is all too aware of the changing face of Woking as the town centre continues to grow and transform. The children were particularly focussed on the need for everyone to have access to certain facilities such as medical care, education and the emergency services.

Mr Lord commented on the excellent ideas the children had and how he enjoyed seeing such a varied and creative curriculum across the school. We hope to welcome him back again soon!
