On Friday 17^th June 2022 the Senior Leadership Team from Greenfield School travelled to the Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair to celebrate the very best in state and independent education in an event hosted by the Times Educational Supplement (TES).

Greenfield was shortlisted alongside eight other schools in the Prep School of the Year category, something they had achieved once before, back in 2019. A lot has changed at Greenfield in the three years since, and so to be shortlisted again was recognition of all the hard work that had occurred to ensure the school remained one of the top prep schools in the country whilst navigating a whole-site move, the pandemic, a major building project and shift to two-form entry. Needless to say, being shortlisted meant a great deal to the school community.

The Ballroom at the Grosvenor Hotel was beautifully set-up to host more than 600 people at the event. A delicious three course meal helped to calm nerves as the schools waited patiently to hear whether or not they had won. Each category winner was met with rapturous applause and the energy in the room was electric – clearly everyone was enjoying being able to celebrate together once more.

Richard Ayoade hosted the awards and delivered each congratulations with his trademark droll, ensuring the momentum remained high as he rattled though more than 18 categories. Greenfield’s category was third from last and had every member of the team on the edge of their seat. When the winner was announced they erupted into cheers and calls of disbelief as they piled up onto the stage to accept the trophy!

Judge and head of St Paul’s Cathedral School Simon Larter-Evans said: “The school has increased its roll and made a particular feature of helping parents choose the future school with the interests of the child, rather than the interests of prestige and that’s a good message for everyone in the independent sector. It’s bucking the trend of monocultural independent schools in the Surrey area and has a strong community focus.”
