Greenfield School is seeking to appoint a Bursar from August 2020 (or possibly earlier) to manage the financial and non-teaching operations of the school.
Greenfield School is a co-educational preparatory school for children aged rising 3 to 11 years of age. Having recently relocated from a compact Victorian building to a 10+ acre site on the north-east outskirts of Woking, Surrey and doubled our intake to create a two-form entry school, we have exciting plans for a new teaching block including sports hall and dining hall .
The Bursar is a key member of the senior leadership team and is vital to the smooth running of the school. Reporting to the Headmistress, the successful candidate will manage the non-teaching day to day operations of the school and will take the lead on matters relating to finance, estates, health and safety, HR and legal and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in developing the schools’ vision and for enhancing its operational and physical infrastructure during a period of sustained growth. The Bursar also acts as Clerk to the Governors.
The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of providing excellent operational delivery across a comparable, customer facing portfolio; ideally within the education sector. He or she will have the skills and character to thrive in a dynamic prep school. It is a busy, demanding but exciting role which requires the candidate to be an excellent leader with strong commercial acumen as well as being an excellent communicator and negotiator. He or she will have a proven and successful record in financial management, will be well organised and a strong administrator.
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate a solid understanding of effective business and financial management including risk management. This role will suit professionals with a high level of personal credibility and demonstrable experience in implementing a strategic vision. Experience of successfully delivering a large construction project would be an advantage.
